Ground Floor
PERGOLA § KITCHEN § DINING § BEDROOM § BATH
Originally the stable, the ground floor dates back to the original construction prior to 1700 and has been remodelled into a rustic kitchen and dining room separated by the original brick arch. The floors are hundred-year-old polished terracotta bricks and the chestnut beams and stuccoed walls are the same ones when the farm was bought in 1972. Due to late of space there is no dishwasher
The kitchen door opens out onto the cool, spacious grapevine-covered pergola overlooking the 6 x 12 meter pool, long, wide chiselled solid chestnut table for dining al fresco, and barbecue. Stone stairs take you down to the swimming pool and lower garden. You will most likely spend most of your time here - the view of the entire Volpaia valley is magical: a perfect balance of untouched Tuscan poetry - wooded hills, vineyards and hundred-year old stone farmhouses not a modern building in site....and even on the hottest days, there is always a breeze, making it comfortably cool even in the heat of the summer. The swimming pool is equipped with chaises and 3 x 12 meter shaded stone deck. Depth is 140 and 160 centimers, with aluminun ladder in the deep end and steps in the shallow end
a mesmerizing view you will never tire of...in fact you might not go ANYWHERE once you've sat down here!
This is where you will sit with a glass of mellow Chianti to time the sun going down over the farthest hill.... watch the swallows flitting through the evening sky.....a VERY difficult table to push yourself away from (although the hammock for two in an old pear tree might convince the sceptics)....!
From the kitchen/dining room a corridor leads past the third bedroom (wrought iron double bed), storage space, and second bathroom with shower, sink, bidet and WC.
The staircase connecting the dining room with the upstairs living room IS NOT SUITABLE FOR TODDLERS
There is no dishwasher in the house; iron and hair dryers provided; a clothes washer is available in a separate building
